The Mahim Police apprehended Mukesh Suryawanshi (alias Maddy Surya), a 33-year-old fraudster linked to a pan-Maharashtra gold scam, from Pune’s Supreme Hotel. Suryawanshi, accused of duping over 60 victims—including farmers and professionals—by promising discounted gold, had been evading authorities since his 2022 bail on COVID-19 grounds.

Scam Details:

Suryawanshi posed as a wealthy automobile engineer with three shell companies, using forged documents and staged luxury to gain trust. His elaborate schemes included flying a Mumbai-based fashion designer to Dubai for a fake photoshoot with Moroccan models to legitimize his operations. After accepting over ₹1.5 crore, he vanished. Investigations revealed all his credentials, including bank KYCs, were fabricated.
