QNet's Multi-Level Marketing Scheme Unmasked! Bombay HC Rejects Anticipatory Bail Applications of Five Key Accused in Multi-Crore QNet Scam

In a landmark judgment, the Bombay High Court has rejected the anticipatory bail applications of five key individuals accused in the multi-crore QNet scam. The court described QNet's operations as a fraudulent multi-level marketing (MLM) scheme camouflaged under the guise of e-marketing. Justice Mridula Bhatkar pointed out that the company motto "sell more, earn more" was misleading and ultimately deceived them into forming a pyramid structure, wherein members were taught and trained upon to fool others in return for making money.

The order of the court reveals the dark side of QNet's business model, promising easy wealth through selling wellness products like Biodisk and Chi Pendent. The court pointed out that these items were sold as medicinal and spiritual wares, capitalizing on people's vulnerabilities. Thereby, behind the claims, the true motive for the top brass of QNet was to lure people into an exploitative scheme that financially drained its victims.

Justice Bhatkar said the business had come across as quite legitimate on the face but was sutured to benefit only top-level members, where lower-level participants could not gain access to their grievances or to the profits. The case against QNet has now broadened: the EOW of Mumbai Police linked the company to money laundering through 73 bank accounts, garnering a whopping Rs 135 crore allegedly laundered out of India.

The Bombay HC’s decision marks a significant blow to QNet, rejecting any claim of innocence. The court emphasized that the company’s actions were in clear violation of laws related to money circulation and economic offences. QNet's MLM structure, which exploited people under the pretense of legitimate business and product sales, was deemed a serious threat to national security. The court also highlighted the role of workshops, inducements, and false promises in perpetuating this fraudulent enterprise.

The Bombay HC has demanded urgent action to be taken against QNet, whose web of deceit remains on the spool, since the company's operations have caused severe financial and mental harm to its victims. The case underlines the dangers of unregulated MLM schemes and serves as a stern warning against such fraudulent practices.
