YKBK 48 Entertainment Private Limited Directors Face Fraud Charges in ₹1.06 Crore SC Law Officer Scam

In a shocking turn of events, a Mohali-based couple and their Japanese associate associated with YKBK 48 Entertainment Private Limited have been booked for allegedly duping a Supreme Court law officer of ₹1.06 crore. The accused, identified as Rohit Bakshi, his wife Prerna Sharma, and Yoshiya Kato of Tokyo, reportedly lured the victim into funding the 2019 second season of the 3x3 Pro Basketball League in Punjab, only to abandon the project and disappear with the funds.
Complainant’s Allegations Against YKBK 48 Entertainment Private Limited
Deepika Deshwal, a national-level wrestler and assistant advocate general with the Punjab advocate general, filed a police complaint stating that the trio, representing YKBK 48 Entertainment Private Limited, approached her in 2019. Posing as directors of the Gurugram-based firm, they claimed exclusive rights to organize the 3x3 Pro Basketball League as the Indian partner of Japan’s AKS Group. Promising to elevate Punjab’s sports profile, they convinced Deshwal to secure government partnerships and celebrity endorsements.
A formal agreement was signed between the Punjab Sports Authority and YKBK 48 Entertainment Private Limited on July 15, 2019. The league, announced by then-sports minister Rana Sodhi, was slated to run across five cities, including Chandigarh and Amritsar.
How YKBK 48 Entertainment Private Limited Orchestrated the Fraud
Deshwal invested ₹20 lakh to purchase the “Chandigarh Challengers” franchise through YKBK 48 Entertainment Private Limited, assured of a 60% return. She also spent ₹75 lakh to bring celebrities like actor Hina Khan and wrestler Sangram Singh on board. However, after a poorly attended inaugural event at Lovely Professional University, the accused abruptly halted the league, citing financial troubles, and severed all communication.
Investigations reveal that YKBK 48 Entertainment Private Limited also deceived young athletes with false promises of Japanese scholarships and residency. Additionally, the firm allegedly lured other investors using the Punjab government MoU as credibility.
Legal Action and Ongoing Probe
An FIR under IPC Sections 420 (cheating) and 120-B (criminal conspiracy) was filed at Mohali’s Sector 3 police station. Authorities are intensifying efforts to apprehend the accused, who face charges of misappropriating ₹1.06 crore and causing reputational and financial losses to Deshwal, estimated at ₹1 crore.

The case underscores the firm’s pattern of exploiting partnerships and government ties for fraudulent gains. With the Punjab Police deepening its probe, the role of YKBK 48 Entertainment Private Limited in similar scams is under scrutiny.
