Chennai Super Kings (CSK) broke their five-match losing streak with a morale-boosting win against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), and it was their iconic figure, MS Dhoni, who stole the spotlight once again. The 43-year-old veteran not only played a crucial role in guiding CSK to victory but also etched his name in IPL history books with two remarkable milestones.

Vintage Dhoni Shines with the Bat

Coming in to bat at number seven, Dhoni displayed his trademark finishing skills, scoring an unbeaten 26 off just 11 deliveries, which included four boundaries and a six. Partnering with Shivam Dube, he helped steer the side to a successful chase and secured a vital win. His impactful knock earned him the Player of the Match award, making him the oldest player in IPL history to receive the accolade.

Fielding Milestone: Most Dismissals in IPL History

Apart from his contribution with the bat, Dhoni also achieved a historic fielding record. With his sharp glovework, he registered his 201st dismissal in the IPL, the highest ever by any player in the tournament’s history. This includes catches, stumpings, and run-outs. Among currently active players, only Virat Kohli comes close, with 116 dismissals as a fielder.

Dhoni Reflects on the Win and Team’s Form

After the match, Dhoni expressed his delight at the team’s performance. “It feels good to finally get a win under our belt. We were falling short in the earlier games, but this victory boosts morale. Hopefully, it marks a turning point,” he said.

Dhoni acknowledged the team's struggles, particularly during the powerplay overs, and hinted that conditions in Chennai may have contributed. “Batting hasn’t been easy, especially on slower surfaces. But we hope to find better rhythm and adapt on livelier pitches going forward.”

This performance not only revived CSK’s campaign but also reminded fans why Dhoni remains one of the most influential players in IPL history—even at 43.
