Indian cricketer Tilak Varma humorously congratulated Rohit Sharma on the birth of his baby boy, remarking, We were waiting for this moment, and had it been 1-2 days later, I would have joined you there. I'm coming soon!" The lighthearted comment reflects the camaraderie within the Indian cricket team as they celebrate Rohit's joyous family milestone.
Rohit Sharma, who welcomed his second child with wife Ritika Sajdeh on November 15, has chosen to skip the opening Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia. The first Test, scheduled for November 22 in Perth, will take place without India's skipper, as he spends quality time with his family during this special occasion.

An official from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed the decision, stating that it was fully supported and respected by the board. Rohitβs presence as captain is considered vital for the team, but his choice to prioritize family was met with understanding and encouragement.
Rohit is expected to rejoin the squad in time for the second Test at Adelaide Oval, which begins on December 6. His absence poses challenges for the team, but his leadership and form will undoubtedly strengthen Indiaβs lineup when he returns to the field.

Such an eventive situation for the Indian team which has also been plagued with top-order vulnerabilities, head coach Rahul Dravid had sounded quite optimistic about Rohit's availability for the first Test at Nagpur but the captain felt the need to send out a message for personal milestones.
The absence of Rohit is going to be challenging for India's opening line-up. For instance, Abhimanyu Easwaran has faced issues with seam and bounce; KL Rahul is also nursing a minor elbow injury. While his recent form hasn't been at its best, Rohit is still a stronger choice as both captain and opener, requiring to provide some stability to India's batting order in the series.
