Anmol, the 8-year-old Murrah buffalo weighing a whopping Rs 23 crore, had been the showpiece of the Pushkar International Cattle Fair that is still on. Hailing from Hissu village in Sirsa district of Haryana, the proud owner of Anmol, Parminder Gill, does not feel hesitant in showing off the buffalo as people throng to behold it as India's costliest buffalo. This Rs 23-crore buffalo is not for sale, though, as Gill feels that it was part of his family.

Anmol's Exotic Diet
Indeed, Anmol's diet is testimony to his high maintenance lifestyle, since the buffalo consumes a range of super protein nutrient foods costing about Rs 1,500 daily. His diet comprises 250 grams of almonds, 4 kg of pomegranates, 30 bananas, 5 kg of milk, and 20 eggs, thereby giving him an enormous supply of energy and nutrients. Besides these, oil cake, green fodder, desi ghee, soybeans, and corn are supplemented to Anmol's diet to keep him healthy and in the best of strength at all times.

Besides his high nutritious diet, Anmol enjoys two baths in a day using almond and mustard oil, which keep him shining with his coat, thereby making his looks picture perfect. This lavishing treatment routine has already earmarked Anmol as a special attraction at the Pushkar fair where few rare livestock gain much attraction.

How Anmol's High Maintenance Is Sustained
It takes quite an effort to maintain Anmol. He had to sell the mother and sister of Anmol as his expenses were too high, said Gill. His mother also was notable in producing an impressive amount of 25 liters of milk per day. However, Gill has found a way to sustain this costly maintenance of Anmol through his prized buffalo's genetics.

His semen, obtained once or twice a week, earns him Rs 250 per dose, which brings him income through breeding. It fetches Gill around Rs 4-5 lakh a month. The high-value model of earnings has thus saved him the expensive diet and grooming that Anmol needs.
