Anmol Bishnoi Seeks Asylum in the U.S.: India's Extradition Efforts Put Gangster's Brother in Fear of Life

New Delhi: In a dramatic turn of events, Anmol Bishnoi, the younger brother of infamous gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, has requested asylum in the United States, citing threats to his life in India. Anmol, arrested in California by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) for entering with fake documents, is currently held in the Pottawattamie County Jail in Oklahoma.

Gangster Lawrence Bishnoi’s Brother Detained by ICE in the U.S.

Anmol Bishnoi, chief of the B Company—a syndicate linked to organized crime—has written a letter to U.S. authorities stating that his life is under threat from enemies of his brother Lawrence Bishnoi in India. He claims the threats prompted him to leave India and that he is being singled out by Indian authorities due only to his family connection.

Asylum Bid in the United States:

Legal pundits believe that Anmol has made a calculated move in filing his plea for asylum, because America rarely sends back people against whom a viable threat of life exists. Presumably, he is using this precedent to delay his extradition.

Contrary to his claims, Indian law enforcement agencies have sent a lengthy dossier to the U.S. authorities regarding his involvement in criminal activities, which include his association with the infamous Sidhu Moosewala murder case and Baba Siddique murder in Mumbai. Presently, Anmol has been charged under two NIA cases and also 18 cases in Punjab, Mumbai, and other states.

Criminal Record and ICE Arrest:

Anmol Bishnoi was arrested by ICE last week after India had issued an alert following his usage of forged documents to gain entry into the U.S. According to intelligence sources, his arrest was the result of coordinated efforts from Indian and U.S. agencies.Indian officials are now accelerating the legal procedures concerning his extradition.

Barriers in Extradition

Anmol's claims of life threats have complicated the process of extradition. Experts believe his strategy could delay his return to India, where he faces charges ranging from murder to managing shooters for organized crimes.

Indian authorities are pressing for his return, emphasizing his alleged role in orchestrating crimes remotely. However, Anmol's clean record in countries like Canada and his claims of persecution could work in his favor in the U.S.

Current Status:

Anmol continues to languish in ICE custody, and this case will likely be the result of a legal-diplomatic tussle between India and the U.S. In the process, if India finally succeeds in extraditing Anmol, it may set an important precedent for how international criminal cases are to be treated.
