Ayodhya Donation Theft: Supreme Court Seeks Responses from Centre, UP Government and Ram Temple Trust on CBI Probe Pleas
The Supreme Court has issued notices to the Union government, the Uttar Pradesh government and the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust on petitions seeking a court-monitored CBI investigation into the alleged theft of donations collected at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya.
The petitions have raised concerns over the handling of donations made by devotees and questioned whether the investigation should remain with the state police or be transferred to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). What Is the Case About?
The controversy stems from allegations that cash and other offerings made by devotees at the Ram Temple were stolen by individuals associated with the temple's security or management system. Following the complaints, the Uttar Pradesh Police registered cases and arrested several accused. Investigators also recovered a portion of the allegedly stolen money during the course of the investigation.
Despite these arrests, the petitioners approached the Supreme Court, claiming that the investigation should be handed over to the CBI to rule out any possibility of bias and to ensure public confidence in the outcome.
