Before his suicide, Subhash accused his estranged wife and her family of continuous harassment during their legal battle, highlighting the emotional toll of such cases.

Men’s Rights Activists Raise Concerns Over Legal Harassment

Men’s rights activist Deepika Narayan Bhardwaj has expressed her concern over the rising number of suicides among men due to false cases and legal harassment. She stated, “Many men end their lives because they are trapped in false cases or become victims of legal terrorism. They often don’t have a platform to voice their issues, and their evidence is overlooked. This affects not only them but also their families.” Bhardwaj also pointed out that in India, there is no support system or government help for these men.

Subhash Atul’s Suicide Note and Allegations

Subhash Atul, who was involved in a bitter divorce and child custody battle, left behind a 24-page suicide note and a video before ending his life. In his note, Subhash accused his in-laws of filing false police complaints and manipulating the legal system. He also mentioned a family court judge's bias towards his in-laws, further highlighting the emotional and legal abuse he endured. Subhash apologized to his parents for not being able to care for them in their old age.

Legal Repercussions and Call for Reform

A complaint filed by Subhash’s brother, Bikas Kumar, at the Marathahalli police station includes charges of abetment of suicide and joint criminal liability. This case has sparked a renewed debate on the misuse of anti-dowry laws and their emotional impact on the accused. Legal experts and activists are now calling for reforms to prevent such incidents in the future and ensure fair treatment for both men and women in legal matters.
