BJP Leader Dr Subramanian Swamy Makes Explosive Claims About Atal Bihari Vajpayee's Relationships and Daughter Sparks Controversy

Veteran BJP leader Dr. Subramanian Swamy has stirred controversy with his recent comments about the personal life of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Swamy, known for his outspoken nature, made these claims during a podcast interview with ex-Aaj Tak anchor Shubhankar Mishra on the show "Unplugged with Shubhankar." The podcast, which aired recently, has sparked widespread debate due to Swamy's explosive remarks.

During the interview, Swamy claimed that Vajpayee's personal life was far more complex than his public image suggested. He accused the former prime minister of having several relationships, including one with a Kashmiri woman during his student days in Gwalior. Swamy alleged that Vajpayee's father disapproved of the relationship, forcing him to move to Kanpur, where he became a pracharak (campaigner) for the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). According to Swamy, the woman's life was disrupted as her parents married her off to an elderly man.

Swamy further claimed that Vajpayee later reconnected with the woman after becoming an MP, inviting her and her husband to live in his residence on Feroz Shah Road in Delhi. Swamy alleged that while the woman's husband lived in the servant quarters, she resided with Vajpayee. The woman, identified as Mrs. Kaul, became a prominent figure in Vajpayee’s personal life. Swamy also claimed that Vajpayee’s adopted daughter, Gunnu, was not biologically related to Mrs. Kaul’s husband.

In another controversial statement, Swamy hinted at Vajpayee’s romantic entanglements with several women, including air hostesses. "He had to say he was unmarried but not a virgin," Swamy remarked, adding further insinuations about the former leader’s relationships.

Swamy’s revelations have left many shocked, with some questioning the timing and intent behind these claims. Vajpayee, who served as India’s Prime Minister three times and remains one of the most respected figures in Indian politics, was known for his dignified public persona. Swamy’s allegations have created a buzz, with many people expressing both support and outrage over his statements.

The podcast host, Shubhankar Mishra, briefly intervened during the interview, acknowledging that stories about Vajpayee and Mrs. Kaul were widely known, but allowed Swamy to continue. Swamy even humorously suggested that the more sensitive parts of his account could be edited out if needed.

While this is not the first time Dr. Swamy has made controversial claims about public figures, his remarks about Vajpayee, a leader revered across political lines, have touched a nerve in the Indian political landscape. How these allegations will impact Swamy’s standing within the BJP or shape public opinion about Vajpayee’s legacy remains to be seen.
