A CCTV camera has caught a shocking incident where a teacher at Leftwell School on Birhana Road has brutally assaulted a 4-year-old student. The child, Maanik, was slapped repeatedly, and his hair was pulled by teacher Ritika over incomplete homework. It surfaced when Deepak, Ritika's father along with other family members visited the school seeking some explanation to the distressed child. The government screened all footage taken by the CCTV camera installed in the classroom where the footage showed Ritika physically torturing the young child. Upset by the viewing of the footage, the family complained against this to the school administration, and on the spot, the handling of students becomes an instant cause of concern for school and police.

Immediately after the parents lodged their complaint against Ritika, school administration, without any delay, summoned the police at the school. In the preliminary statement made to the police, Ritika accepted assault on a child and claimed that as she had been feeling stressed and was depressed. However, management of Leftwell School decided to terminate the employment of Ritika as this is such a serious incident.

The ACP Ashutosh Kumar ruled that an NCR had already been lodged against the teacher. The police will begin probing the assault so that safety measures around schools could be intensified for students.
