Navratri 2024 Day 4: Worshiping Kushmanda Devi, the Creator of the Universe - Read Now

On the fourth day of Navratri 2024, devotees honor Kushmanda Devi, the goddess who is believed to have created the universe with her gentle smile. Known as Ashtabhuja Devi due to her eight arms, Kushmanda Devi is worshipped for her divine power to eliminate suffering and bring prosperity to her devotees.
According to mythology, before the existence of the universe, only darkness prevailed. It was Kushmanda Devi who, through her radiant energy, created the Brahmanda (universe), earning her the title "Adi Shakti" or the primordial goddess. She holds significant symbols in her eight hands, including a lotus, bow, arrow, and a pot of nectar.
The goddess is also associated with the removal of life’s hardships, such as poverty, illness, and grief. Worshippers believe that praying to her leads to increased strength, health, and liberation from worldly struggles. As a special offering, devotees present pumpkins, known as "Kumbhalkai" in Sanskrit, which is considered her favorite offering.
