SITAPUR, UTTAR PRADESH – In a bizarre and troubling incident, a grocery store owner in Sitapur was left shocked after discovering the culprit behind the mysterious daily dumping of waste outside his shop. For nine months, the store owner arrived each morning to find a plastic bag filled with human waste left outside his shop near the railway crossing. Frustrated by the ongoing mess, he decided to take matters into his own hands by installing CCTV cameras.
The Unfolding Mystery
The grocery store, owned by Prem Shankar Gupta, is located near the Shahjahanpur road railway crossing. Every morning, when he opened his shop at around 7 AM, he found a bag filled with urine and feces dumped near the store's shutter. Initially, Gupta was perplexed about who was committing this unsanitary act. After months of enduring the mess and cleaning it up himself, he decided to install CCTV cameras outside his shop to catch the offender.
CCTV Footage Reveals the Culprit
To his surprise, when Gupta reviewed the CCTV footage, he saw a man arriving at 5 AM each morning in an e-rickshaw. The man, later identified as Sharif, a resident of Kanshiram Colony, would throw the bag filled with waste and drive away. Gupta continued monitoring the footage for several days to confirm the identity of the culprit.
One morning, Gupta, along with his sons, Shyamji and Ramji, decided to confront Sharif. At 4 AM, they waited near the shop, hidden from sight. As expected, Sharif arrived with the waste-filled bag and threw it near the shop’s entrance. Gupta and his sons immediately caught him in the act.
Police Involvement and Resolution
The police were called to the scene, and Sharif was taken to the local Kachnar police outpost for questioning. However, rather than pursuing legal action, the police facilitated a compromise between both parties. Gupta mentioned that he had no prior knowledge of Sharif and was baffled as to why he had been targeting his shop.
A Strange and Unresolved Motive
Despite the confrontation, Sharif's motive for consistently dumping waste outside the shop remains unclear. Gupta, although relieved that the mystery was finally solved, expressed confusion over why someone would engage in such behavior for such a long period.
