 In a major decision, the Australian Government yesterday decided to ban social media for minors below 16 years of age. It has announced legislation preparation for enforcing this ban. During a press conference yesterday, Prime Minister Anthony Albanese highlighted in a sharp tone: Social media is hurting our kids. - 'It's time to put a stop to it .

More importantly, a government minister made known particulars concerning which social networking sites are to be banned and also informed about when exactly this measure would be started. This new amended law will be tabled in parliament this year and the age limitation will take effect 12 months after it has been enacted. Importantly, there will be no exceptions allowed for those claiming they had embossed parental controls to ensure uniform practice.

This is a move to indicate that the government has somehow increased its concerns over the social media menace experienced with its young population as its intention is to establish an online world that will be safer for children in Australia.  Therefore, considering the policy stand that the government contends to impose, this move brings out its aggressive position towards these digital-related difficulties in the face of minors confronted by the challenge.
