Ladakh, India: Winds of diplomacy finally seem to be blowing in the rugged terrains of Ladakh! Fallout of the recent India-China agreement is now slowly and steadily beginning to show on both sides as they begin to withdraw their troops from the frontline along the LAC. According to China, the withdrawal process has begun and is going along smoothly, leaving many onlookers hopeful for a resolution.

India-China Troop Withdrawal Progresses in Ladakh

According to sources, the process of withdrawal from Demchok and Depsang plains started recently and is likely to be completed by 28-29 October. In that case, both Indian and Chinese soldiers are going to completely withdraw from these places. The next step after the withdrawal is finalized will be for ground commanders from both sides to meet and ensure proper coordination of future patrols and thus minimize misunderstandings.On 23 October, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with Chinese President Xi Jinping in a bilateral on the BRICS summit sidelines in Kazan, Russia. The two leaders agreed to the terms of the agreement on troop withdrawal and patrolling. This comes after heightened tensions following the infamous Galwan clash in June 2020, which marked one of the most severe military confrontations in recent decades between the two nations.
