Elder Hides 4 Crores in Mattress, Accidentally Discards it as Scrap

It is a strange incident where an 80-year-old woman accidentally threw out her old mattress, but then realized that she had hidden her life savings, worth about 4 crore rupees in cash, in the mattress. The old lady lives alone and depends on her pension from the government. While cleaning, she mistakenly sent the mattress to the junkyard. The next moment, she felt the horrible realization that she had put all her savings in that mattress. Panicked, she called the police right away and explained that she had kept the cash inside the mattress as she feared bank thefts. Initially, the police thought that it was a prank, but she continued calling them. Soon, officers arrived at her place. The woman explained that her mistrust of the banks led her to stash the money in the mattress over the years. The sincerity of the distressed lady managed to convince the policemen to help in the search.

After 30 minutes of searching, the police finally found the mattress. Everyone was surprised when the stitching was opened and the cash was indeed inside, just as the woman had claimed. The police returned the money to the relieved woman who asked that her identity remain anonymous for security reasons.

It only shows how far the people can go just to preserve what is theirs. Luckily, local authorities acted promptly so that this elderly woman regained safe and sound her life earnings.
