Pakistan Railways suspends Quetta trains after deadly blast claims 26 Lives; safety measures amid national outcry

Pakistan Railways has suspended all train services to and from Quetta station after a dastardly explosion in the city killed 26 people and left 62 others injured. Pakistan Railways suspended the operation from Quetta station effective from November 10 in response to the incident. The investigations are carried out between November 11 and November 14; operations thus remain suspended at Quetta Station.

Resumption Dates of Services and Timetable Changes

"Pakistan Railways spokesperson said that suspension of services will remain in place till 14th November, while services will resume on a phased basis. The Bolan Mail operation between Karachi to Quetta will resume operations from November 16 for Karachi-Quetta route," an official statement said. It will keep travelling from Quetta to Karachi from 18th November. The Jaffar Express will start journeying from Peshawar to Quetta on 14 November and return from Quetta to Peshawar on 15 November.

Blast Details

The blast occurred at Quetta railway station where a good number of passengers were waiting at the platform when the Jaffar Express was getting ready to leave. It was the shocking incident, which exposed sustained security threats in the region. The Chaman Passenger and the Jaffar Express were due to depart at the time, and passengers of both trains were directly hit due to the blast. The concerned authorities did not make any specific information about explosives and culprits but are still probing the circumstances of the attack.

Reaction from Pakistani Authorities

His prime minister Shehbaz Sharif very soon condemned the act and sought an overall investigation report. He ensured accountability by saying that all those responsible for this "heinous act" would face justice and that "terrorists will pay a heavy price." Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi followed the same sentiment as well by condemning the attack, terming it a mean to disturb the peace and stability of Pakistan. He said the nation would never let such elements disturb peace and stability in the country.

Even People's Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari joined the chorus, declaring that attacks on civilians would never be tolerated. "Those targeting innocent citizens deserve no leniency," he said before adding his full support for efforts to flush out terrorists and their collaborators.

Heightened security and continued vigilance

The undercurrent of threat has increased security measures at major railway stations and public transport hubs across Pakistan, as the investigation continues. Despite these developments, the government is committed to seeing that transport services return safely and securely; however, the attack seems to have raised severe concerns over critical infrastructure safety in the region.

This temporary suspension of rail services reflects Pakistan Railways' concern for the safety of travelers at this heightened threat hour. Healing, recovery, and resilience, now however, matter most for the people and commuters living in and around Quetta. Resumption of services is important to reestablish normalcy, but the scars would probably remain after a potential reopening of the railway station because of this attack.
