Bahraich Violence: Court Sends All Five Accused to Police Custody—Big Relief for Cops!
In a dramatic turn of events, the five accused in the Bahraich violence case have been sent to 14 days of police remand by the district court. These individuals were arrested following a police encounter that unfolded on Thursday, amidst a backdrop of chaos and communal unrest.
Courtroom Drama Unfolds
On Friday, the five suspects—Mohammad Faheem, Mohammad Taleem alias Sablu, Mohammad Sarfaraz, Abdul Hamid, and Mohammad Afzal—were presented at the residence of Additional District Judge Poonam Pathak for safety reasons, guarded by tight security measures. The court's decision to place them in police remand comes in the wake of a tumultuous situation that has gripped the region.
Both Sarfaraz and Taleem were presented in court after sustaining gunshot wounds during the encounter, which occurred in the Nanpara area near the Saryu Main Canal, close to the India-Nepal border. Their injuries were serious enough to necessitate hospitalization before appearing in court.

Violence Erupts: A Timeline of Events
The unrest in Bahraich began on October 13 during the immersion of Durga idols in the Maharajganj area, which escalated into communal violence leading to the tragic death of 22-year-old Ram Gopal Mishra, who was shot during the melee. Following this incident, violence erupted across the locality, with reports of arson and chaos surfacing in the aftermath.
The police encountered the suspects as they attempted to flee towards Nepal. Their capture was deemed critical in restoring order to the beleaguered area.
Allegations and Accusations
Police Superintendent has stated that all accused will face stringent action under the National Security Act and other relevant laws. Meanwhile, a statement from the widow of the deceased, Dolly Mishra, has raised eyebrows. She accused the police of corruption and claimed that justice is being denied to her family. According to her, the police encounter appears staged, suggesting that the injuries sustained by the two suspects were merely for show.
