MG Cyber X Electric SUV: MG Motor has officially revealed the Cyber X electric SUV concept at the 2025 Shanghai Auto Show, the second model in its daring and futuristic Cyber line, after the Cyberster roadster. With a boxy, angular design and retro elements such as pop-up headlights and matte-black paint, the Cyber X takes on a retro-futuristic look targeted at younger, fashion-conscious EV buyers.

MG Cyber X Electric SUV: Compact, Bold, and Designed for the Urban Explorer

At 4.3 meters in length, the MG Cyber X is a mini electric SUV on par with the Land Rover Defender 90 in size, but with a difference. Rather than off-road capabilities, the Cyber X emphasizes city escapades, stylish design, and digital-led features.

Relying on an electric platform based on cells-to-body created by SAIC Motor, the Cyber X vows better efficiency and cabin room. Although MG still has not announced powertrain or battery details, the concept represents a significant milestone in the brand's electric push.

"Cyber X is about providing families with an emotional car," says SAIC Motor global design chief Jozef Kaban.

  • Smoked pillars floating roof design provides an added touch of sleek visual continuity.
  • High-mounted LED light bar and dual-tone alloys add to urban street appeal.
  • Matte-black finish reinforces the rugged, tech-inspired design theme.

MG is also teaming up with smartphone behemoth Oppo to co-develop in-cabin connectivity and user interface technology, so the Cyber X stays faithful to the Cyber series' tech-infused DNA.

Production Timeline and India Launch Possibility

While still a notion, MG suggested that the Cyber X might be put into production earlier than anticipated, thanks to China's speedy EV development cycles. MG intends to introduce eight new global EV models by 2026, including SUVs and saloons.

If launched in India, the Cyber X would be pitted against the much-awaited Tata Sierra EV, both of which are of a similar size, lifestyle-focused strategy, and retro-futuristic styling. With MG already a force to reckon with in India's EV segment, the Cyber X would be an interesting new entry in the electric SUV space.
