Samsung Halts One UI 7 Update Globally After Galaxy S24 Bug Reports

Samsung has reportedly paused the global rollout of its One UI 7 update after a serious bug was discovered in the Galaxy S24 series. The update, based on Android 15, began rolling out on April 7 but is now facing setbacks due to major complaints from users, particularly in Korea.
According to reports from a Korean news outlet and Samsung's own forums, users experienced issues like being unable to unlock their phones and significant battery drainage. The bug has impacted not only the Galaxy S24 series but also other devices in line for the update, including the Galaxy S23 series, Galaxy Z Fold 6, and Galaxy Z Flip 6.
Well-known tech tipster Ice Universe also confirmed on X (formerly Twitter) that the problem was first noticed on Korean Galaxy S24 units, which prompted Samsung to halt the update’s distribution globally.
What's New in One UI 7?
The One UI 7 is Samsung’s latest custom interface layered on Android 15. It introduces:
-
Smoother animations
-
Faster app launches
-
Now Bar for lock screen interaction with music, notifications, and alerts
-
Advanced AI features such as AI Select, Writing Assist, and Audio Eraser
Samsung had initially rolled out One UI 7 with the Galaxy S25 series and has since shipped it with newer models like the Galaxy A56 and A36, albeit with limited features and ad-supported elements.

Looking Ahead
The tech giant is gearing up for the launch of Galaxy M56 and Galaxy F56 in India, which were expected to run One UI 7 out of the box. However, with the current pause, it remains unclear if the upcoming models will receive the update at launch.
As the rollout faces continued delays, users and experts are beginning to wonder whether Samsung is managing a deeper software flaw—or if the staggered updates are a strategic move to promote the new Galaxy S25 lineup.
