Delhi Man Receives Pre-Diwali scolding from Delivery Boy for Ordering Chicken Biryani

Internet users slammed an unsolicited lecture they received over a pre-Diwali chicken biryani order from a delivery boy who insisted on moral policing.

A food delivery agent in Delhi recently reprimanded a Reddit user for ordering chicken biryani just before Diwali. According to the user, after the agent confirmed her order through an OTP, the agent condemned it being "Ye bhot galat kar rahe ho aap," that is "You're doing something very wrong." It then suggested that he get something "clean," that is implying that the meat wasn't something you are allowed to eat in the middle of the festival season.

It created a feeling of discomfort among the customer and he doubted whether his food might be tampered with or not. He even thought about complaining against the agent, but he did not make any complaint because the agent had his contact numbers as well as his home address.

The whole issue has sparked a lot of debate online regarding how far moral policing goes. A lot of users were outraged at the agent for providing unsolicited advice to the customer. Several comments argued that if the delivery agent was uncomfortable delivering non-vegetarian items, he should have refused to do the order instead of forcing his belief on the customer. This incident touches on the wider issue of personal beliefs coming into conflict with professional responsibility, especially during times such as Diwali.

This post indeed called for a flood of reactions. One common complaint a user made was, "This was one of my biggest fears—moral policing over food choices. You should report this and request that he doesn't deliver to you again. Another comment summed it by asking, Why is he pushing his belief on you? If he is uncomfortable, he should opt out of delivering non-veg items.
