Underwear Gang Strikes in Malegaon Steals Gold and Bananas

In a bizarre and alarming incident, a group dubbed the "chaddi-baniyan" gang has caused a stir in Malegaon, Maharashtra, after breaking into a residence and a college in Nashik late last night. The gang, named after their distinct attire—vests and underwear—stole approximately 70 grams of gold, valued at around ₹ 5 lakh, and a bunch of bananas. The audacious theft was captured on CCTV cameras, showing the criminals in their unusual outfits as they carried out the robbery.

The "chaddi-baniyan" gang has gained notoriety across different parts of India for their unique and unsettling modus operandi. Typically, the members of this gang are seen wearing minimal clothing during their crimes, which sometimes includes carrying sharp weapons to intimidate their victims. It remains unclear whether these crimes are coordinated by a single group or if the peculiar dress code is a tactic used by multiple gangs to throw off investigators.

This latest incident in Malegaon follows closely on the heels of thefts committed by a different group, known as the "gown" gang. This group, caught on security footage wearing women's gowns, targeted residential areas in Malegaon last week. Armed with sharp weapons, the "gown" gang also managed to steal money from a donation box at a local temple.

The recent spate of robberies by both the "chaddi-baniyan" and "gown" gangs has left the residents of Malegaon in a state of fear and panic. Locals are urging the police to take swift and decisive action to apprehend the culprits and restore a sense of security to the community.
