Ratan Tata Held 0.83% Stake in Tata Sons, Net Worth at Rs 7,900 Crore
New Delhi: Visionary leader Ratan Tata, former chairman of Tata Sons, passed away at the age of 86, leaving behind a significant legacy. Despite holding a modest 0.83% stake in Tata Sons, Ratan Tata's personal wealth was valued at Rs 7,900 crore, as reported in the Hurun India Rich List 2024. Much of his wealth was tied to his shares in Tata Sons and investments across various industries.
Ratan Tata's will named lawyer Darius Khambata and close associate Mehli Mistry as executors, while his half-sisters, Shireen and Deanna Jejeebhoy, were also appointed to ensure his final wishes were carried out. His half-brother, Noel Tata, took over as chairman of Tata Trusts, the largest shareholder in Tata Sons, holding 66% of the company's stake.
Ratan Tata’s Investment Legacy
Known for his commitment to philanthropy, Ratan Tata dedicated a large portion of his wealth to charitable causes through Tata Trusts. In addition to his shares in Tata Sons, his investments spanned numerous industries, including startups such as Ola, Paytm, and FirstCry. These investments were primarily made through RNT Associates, his personal investment firm, which held total assets worth Rs 296.96 crore in FY23.
