Birsa Munda Jayanti 2024: PM Modi Pays Tribute to Tribal Leader on Janjatiya Gaurav Divas, Jharkhand Foundation Day

It was indeed a tribute to one of the greatest freedom fighters in history, Bhagwan Birsa Munda, whose contributions the country pays tribute on this Janjatiya Gaurav Divas (Tribal Pride Day) that signals the start of the 150th birth anniversary of the great leader. There has also been an occasion for confluence: Jharkhand Foundation Day. PM Modi underlined that the state is dotted with immense legacy and natural resources.
The Prime Minister posted his tribute to Bhagwan Birsa Munda on the 15th day of November, 2024 on X (former Twitter). He posted that "Bhagwan Birsa Munda Ji gave up everything to save the pride and dignity of the motherland. I pay my heart-felt tribute to him on this very auspicious occasion of his birth anniversary, 'Tribal Pride Day'.
PM Modi also said that an anniversary for the birth of Birsa Munda, an icon of the Indian freedom struggle and a crusader for the rights of tribals, is being initiated today, which would be a year-long birth anniversary. In his name, a commemorative coin and postal stamp were also released on this occasion. The launch is also slated in Jamui, Bihar, where many development projects for the tribal people would be inaugurated by the prime minister.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah greeted the day by unveiling a statue of Bhagwan Birsa Munda in Delhi and reminded the country about the significance of his contributions to its tribal people.
PM Modi's Jharkhand Foundation Day Message
He extended warm regards to the people of Jharkhand and said the state has a foundation, and it has indeed contributed much to the progress of India. Addressing the message, PM Modi said, "Many best wishes to all my brothers and sisters of Jharkhand on the foundation day of the state. This land, irrigated by the struggle and sacrifice of the tribal society, has always made the country proud.". I wish that this natural resources wealthier state advances at a good speed on the path of progress.
Development Projects for Tribal Upliftment:
Jamui: To mark the first-of-its kind youth event in the state after Independence, chief minister Nitish Kumar has planned inauguration and foundation stone laying of over Rs 6,640 crore of development projects by PM Narendra Modi, which will be attended by 19,000 young contributors of this event. These development projects are aimed at developing infrastructure, better access to basic amenities in the rural and tribal areas, and stimulating growth.
Projects also reflect the steps of the government towards the upliftment of tribal communities as far as education and healthcare issues are concerned. The rural development areas also receive maximum attention. It will probably have a direct impact on the social and economic infrastructures of the region supporting thousands of families.
Celebrations have begun on a grand note, with national leaders paying tributes to the legacy of Bhagwan Birsa Munda on the occasion of Janjatiya Gaurav Divas. The visit of PM Modi to Jharkhand and Bihar further underlines the commitment of the government to the welfare and development of the tribal communities in India.
