Celebrate the Birdman of India, for today it is Dr. Salim Ali's 128th birth anniversary
Across the nation, birdwatchers, environmentalists, and nature lovers are today celebrating the 128th birth anniversary of the much-endearing Dr. Salim Ali, popularly known as the "Birdman of India." From X and social media posts to outdoor bird counts and conservation talks, the life and work of Dr. Ali inspires a love for birdwatching and protection of the environment.
All the achievements of Dr. Ali are thunderously appreciated because of his contribution to the Bombay Natural History Society (BNHS), which significantly advanced ornithology in India and protected avian habitats. His research and advocacy popularized the importance of bird conservation, changing birdwatching from being a niche interest group activity to becoming a national pastime.
