Indian Railways has announced thousands of additional trains to accommodate high travel demand as the festive season is on. However, with this scheme, once again, the stations have long queues, and people are not getting confirmed tickets

Festive Rush, Passengers Face Ticket Cancellations

The other day there was a stampede kind of situation at one station, and this has also made Indian Railways announce 200 more special trains. But passengers are crying on other grounds too and saying that they are getting unconfirmed tickets, whereas confirmed tickets are being canceled at the last moment. It has seen a flood of complaints on IRCTC's X (formerly Twitter) handle.

Many passengers took to the social media to protest against the situation. A user complained on X, tagging RailMinIndia and Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, stating that he booked a waitlisted ticket from Delhi to Prayagraj, and the ticket was still not confirmed after preparing the chart, and he was charged ₹100 for refund instead of full refund.

It's not just the waitlisted tickets-the confirmed ticket holders are also seeing their tickets get canceled. Another passenger posted that he had booked five confirmed tickets under PNR number 2117503282. The passenger got a confirmation message, but while the chart was finalized, all five tickets were canceled and turned into RAC status, which disarranged his travel plan.

The problem of technical failure has also cropped up, and people were complaining about IRCTC's system response in times of peak bookings. A passenger pointed out that the Tatkal booking facility at IRCTC often doesn't respond during 10:00-10:05 AM and 11:00-11:05 AM and shortly displays a "Regret" message. This issue happens over and over, which is making people think that perhaps the system has been developed to behave like this, or it indicates some sort of technical malfunction.
