Shocking Incident: Teacher Runs Half-Clothed in Kanpur After Escape from Assault - Read Now
A teacher in Kanpur ran half-clothed on the street to escape an assault attempt by a friend’s acquaintance. The viral incident has caused public outrage, highlighting safety concerns. Police are investigating, and the suspect is on the run.
A shocking incident in Kanpur of Uttar Pradesh has caused immense shock and concern as a young teacher, believing to escape an assault attempt, ran half-clothed onto the street. The woman, from Auraiya by origin, found herself in vulnerable position after trusting an acquaintance who used her friend's name to bring her to his house.
The Shocking Assault Attempt
The teacher, who stays with her brother in Damodarnagar locality of the city, had gone out to teach a private class on Tuesday evening. Around 6:30 pm, she was approached by Vaibhav Verma, a friend of her female acquaintance. He claimed that her friend wanted to reconcile and see her and insisted that she accompany him to meet her. Resisting at first, she finally relented after he aggressively barred her way and eventually sat on his scooter to take her to his house.
There, she realized that her friend had not come to school. Vaibhav had assured her that her friend would arrive soon and instead came out with alcohol, forcing her to drink. When she refused to do so, he reportedly turned violent and assaulted her and tried to force himself upon her.
Desperate Escape to the Street
The teacher resisted the assault, and Vaibhav responded by breaking her phone so that she could not call for help. As he continued assaulting her, he tore her clothes forcefully. In an effort to get away, she pushed him back and managed to run out of the house onto the street in desperation to save herself.
People were left dumbfounded as they witnessed the teacher running bare-little-half dressed and literally in tears. She took refuge in one shop nearby, where a female onlooker helped her to cover up, allowing her to use the woman's cell phone to contact her brother who came and took her away.
Police Action and Investigation
The Kanpur police reached in no time after the complaint. Meanwhile, Vaibhav had managed to run away from his place when the police reached there. An FIR has been lodged against Vaibhav Verma and the unidentified co-accomplice of his, who happened to be present when the teacher first came over but was gone in no time. Police have launched teams to track down Vaibhav.
ACP Manjay Singh said that this case was under his investigation and had reported that he had met the teacher who refused to give some formal statement initially but then told the details of the traumatic event. The police are taking it seriously and told the victim to reassure her that she is being protected and justice is meted out.

People residing in the locality, as well as the netizens, sought strict action to be meted out on the anti-social element and termed his deed "heinous". He was a pest according to his neighbors, and he is now a man wanted by the public who waits for him to be caught and punished.
