However, on the other front, K Gopalakrishnan is also being accused of running a particular WhatsApp group called "Mallu Hindu Officers" that was raising questions on religious identity publicity in the bureaucracy. While Gopalakrishnan claimed that his phone was hacked, forensic investigations did not find any evidence for this, reportedly because it had been formatted. This prompted the government to take disciplinary action against him.

N. Prasanth, popularly known as 'Collector Bro', and Special Secretary in the Department of Agriculture Development and Farmers' Welfare too was suspended. He was accused of posting a controversial comment on Facebook calling his senior Additional Chief Secretary A. Jayatilak a psychopath and of spreading false information. He testified that his intent was to raise voices against the harmful practices. Prasanth told the tribunal that being able to criticize was a constitutional right. He pleaded his case, but what he says was ruled as a breach of discipline by the government, which decided his suspension.

That disciplinary action triggered much debate on social media that only government can tolerate indiscipline. Prasanth was attacked earlier when opposition members, indulging in corruption, were alleged to have been in league with him by the then Fisheries Minister Mercykutty Amma. Political motives are now being credited with suspensions as the opposition figures join the chorus.
