PM Modi Celebrates Igas in Delhi: A Sip of the 'Budhi Diwali' of Uttarakhand with Festive Fervour

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday celebrated the traditional 'Igas' festival at BJP MP and chief spokesperson Anil Baluni's residence in Delhi. Known as "Budhi Diwali" in Uttarakhand, Igas is celebrated 11 days after Diwali with festive fervour in the region.
Wishing the nation, especially people of Uttarakhand, happiness and prosperity in every life, PM Modi shared: " Heartfelt greetings to all countrymen, especially my family from Uttarakhand, on the occasion of Igas. I had the honor to be a part of this festival along with Lok Sabha MP Anil Baluni Ji from Uttarakhand here in Delhi. May this festival bring joy and prosperity to everyone's lives."
@anil_baluni pic.twitter.com/KERvqmB6eA

During the ceremony, PM Modi wore a traditional Uttarakhandi cap to pay his respects to the religious leaders in attendance. He took part in the Igas rituals; he lit the ceremonial lamp and performed an aarti. The Igas festival indeed celebrates harvest, fertility, and prosperity and is a celebration dedicated to the worship of Goddess Nanda Devi.
Earlier in the day, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami also greeted Igas by terming it a symbol of the rich cultural heritage of Uttarakhand. Urging all to celebrate it with a renewed commitment to tradition and joy, he prayed, "may the spark of happiness and passion illuminate every life.".
