The design has been entrusted to IIT Delhi. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is expected to be present with PM Modi in the ceremony which, it is said, is aimed at improving the lot of its citizens by way of health deliverance to the people of Mithila as also of Nepal and other northeastern states. He will also throw open road infrastructure projects worth over ₹10,000 crore. These include widening national highways and water and power launches. The 94 km Araria-Raniganj road is an important one that will improve India-Nepal border security and connectivity. Built in two phases, it will have a four-lane highway between Araria and Galgalia; a parallel option to NH-57 through which travel to Nepal and West Bengal will become easier. The prime minister will also open Darbhanga's third railway station, constructed from the new bypass rail line. From Sitamarhi to Sakri, this bypass ensures that a lot of trains do not stop at the main Darbhanga Junction, thus reducing the load and providing a more direct route from Delhi to West Bengal.

During his trip, PM Modi will also attend a tribal function in Jamui that has been scheduled to coincide with the 150th birth anniversary of freedom fighter Birsa Munda. During the function, he is scheduled to unveil a statue dedicated to him. Interestingly, the visit comes at a time when Bihar is voting for a by-election and Jharkhand is gearing up for assembly polls. Modi's announcement and visit may, therefore, both sway regional sentiments during this time.
