Vijayawada to be Transformed into a Smart City: Key Development Projects to Ease Traffic and Bolster Infrastructure
The Vijayawada city, one of the fastest-growing in Andhra Pradesh, is all set for a major makeover as part of its Smart City development. In a review meeting recently, Vijayawada MP Kesineni Sivanath, along with West Constituency MP Sujana Chaudhary, spelt out ambitious plans to meet the growing infrastructure needs of the town and to ease traffic congestion. To be executed with collaboration between the Central and State governments, these projects plan to modernize the urban landscape of Vijayawada.
Some key development plans that will help in reducing traffic congestion is the construction of a railway underpass and overpass around the railway station. The BRTS Road to the railway station will help further ease transportation, thus expediting commutes. Another bridge connecting Singh Nagar, Rajarajeswari Peta, and Errakattu would also be constructed to ensure connectivity within the city with reduced travel time.
The MPs and officials recommended higher revenue-generating projects and insisted that all departments meet their annual targets. In line with these efforts, they emphasized the development of sports infrastructure like stadiums to encourage athletic pursuits and provide recreations options for citizens.
The Smart City initiative is a major long-term growth prospect for Vijayawada. Plans for overhauling the city's infrastructure should improve the quality of life among residents and draw in more investments. Development efforts of Vijayawada intend to tackle both urban and suburban areas that fall under its jurisdiction, ensuring infrastructure keeps abreast with the rapid growth of the city.
He said that beautification projects should be done to give an aesthetic feel to the city, with appeal and to make its citizens very welcoming. VMC (Vijayawada Municipal Corporation) Commissioner HM Dhyanachandra stated that the officials of all the departments are being co-ordinated to implement these projects and push Vijayawada ahead in its transformation process.
To maintain the development of the city, it is requested by the local people to raise the funds, such as property tax and vacant land tax, punctually so that these developmental activities keep going on with the continuous reception of funds. Support from both the Central Government and State Government, Vijayawada will become a complete smart city, modern, efficient, and vibrant, which will benefit all the citizens.
