Maharashtra Elections 2024: Amit Shah to Rahul Gandhi, Praise Savarkar, Thackeray
Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday launched a sharp attack on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi while delivering an election rally speech at Hingoli in Maharashtra. Speaking at the rally in the run-up to the November 20 state assembly polls, Shah was piqued by Rahul Gandhi into extolling Veer Savarkar and Shiv Sena founder Bal Thackeray.
Amit Shah Challenges Rahul Gandhi Before Maharashtra Elections 2024 Uddhav ji, if you have the guts, ask Rahul Baba to speak two good words about Veer Savarkar and Balasaheb Shah said as quoted by PTI. His remarks were to throw light on the ideological chasm within the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA), comprising Congress, Shiv Sena (UBT), and the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP).
Shah also slammed Congress for its stand on Article 370 that accorded special status to Jammu and Kashmir before it was abrogated in 2019. "Rahul Baba's Congress party has passed a resolution in Kashmir to reinstate Article 370. Rahul Baba, listen carefully, not only you but even your fourth generation cannot bring back Article 370," he claimed while restating the BJP's stern stance.
Addressing a question about the recent Haryana elections, the chief minister jabbed at Congress: "So much arrogance in a democracy. Look at the results, Congress was wiped out in Haryana, and BJP formed the government for a third consecutive term." This meant a subtle allusion to the electoral success of the BJP and the failure on the part of Congress in making any breakthrough.

The statements by Shah aimed at consolidating BJP's position in Maharashtra as MVA alliance presents tough challenges against that. By relying on Veer Savarkar and Bal Thackeray, he attempted to strike an emotional chord with Maharashtrians and in doing so managed to lay bare the ideological gulf between Congress and Shiv Sena (UBT).
As campaigning intensifies, the bold speech by Shah has truly reflected the aggressive approach that the BJP will employ to retain its influence in the state of Maharashtra, a significant state in the political scenario of India.
