Bangladeshi Hindus are in Danger, Extremists Threaten Lives Over Jobs!

Following the recent coup that ousted former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the situation for Hindus in Bangladesh has deteriorated. While direct attacks may have decreased, reports indicate a rise in discrimination, threats, and social ostracism against the Hindu community. The shifting political landscape has emboldened extremist groups, exacerbating the plight of religious minorities. Hindus are facing increased hostility, jeopardizing their safety and livelihoods. As political tensions persist, urgent attention is needed to address the growing challenges faced by Hindus in Bangladesh and ensure their protection and rights in this volatile environment. 

Bangladeshi Hindus are in Danger, Faces problems & physical violence

According to India Today, discrimination is not only directed toward Hindus but also there's a threat of physical violence and social exclusion. Negative campaigns to malign their image have increased, making their environment unwelcoming.Extreme groups have emerged full force under the interim administration led by Nobel laureate Muhammad Yunus following the 5 August coup. According to reports, from there, the violence and persecution of religious minority groups by these groups have been increasing. For instance, Assistant Professor Rontu Das of Chittagong University was allegedly sacked under death threats. Many people took it to their social media accounts.

Discrimination is followed at the enforcement level whereby it has even been documented with the dismissal of 252 police sub-inspectors of the Sharda Police Academy, most of which involved 91 Hindus with a case being brought of gross misconduct. Moreover, the scheduled October 20 passing out parade for more than 60 officers ranked at the level of ASP had been canelled to wait for them, meaning no appointments until now.
Hindus also complain of an environment of hostility that is now threatening their jobs and opportunities. Sectarian groups charge that the previous government indulged in nepotism in appointments.
With this changing political landscape in Bangladesh, the plight of the Hindus becomes an issue needing immediate attention.
