Canadian Temple Cancels Consular Event Amid Violent Protest Threats

The Brampton Triveni Mandir and Community Centre in Canada has called off an upcoming consular event owing to serious concerns over potential violent protests. The event was a consular camp scheduled to take place on November 17 and was intended to help Indian-origin Hindus and Sikhs renew essential life certificates.

The temple administration issued a notice on Monday declaring the cancellation. The release stated, "The Life Certificate Event planned for November 17, 2024, at Brampton Triveni Mandir by the Indian Consulate has been canceled. This decision follows intelligence from Peel Regional Police indicating an extremely high and imminent threat of violent protests."

The temple authorities apologized to the community and said, "We apologize to community members who were relying on this event. It saddens us that Canadians now feel unsafe visiting Hindu temples in Canada."
