NASA Issue Alert for Two Massive Asteroids: To Whiz Near the Earth Today. No Known Danger

The NASA center had sounded a caution signal two huge asteroids 2024 XY5 and 2024 XB6 which will go through near the earth on Tuesday, December 16, officials confirmed today, which according to astronomers pose no direct danger as the chances are they are far above that needed safety.

Measuring an astonishing 71 feet diameter in size, which happens to be roughly similar in measurements as a massive airplane. Travelling at an impressive speed of 10,805 miles an hour, it will be on its nearest passage to earth at 12:26 am IST, December 16. This will be 2,180,000 miles away, safe and over 16 times farther from the Earth than the moon is, so no panic here assures NASA- The asteroid passes no threat.

Moreover, Asteroid 2024 XB6, some 56 feet smaller in dimension, is also flying by earth. This asteroid will come at a speed of 14,780 miles per hour; its closest approach will be approximately around 4,150,000 miles from Earth. Such as 2024 XY5, asteroid 2024 XB6 will too pass by harmlessly.

There are many asteroids such as 2024 XY5, which scientists find more interesting because of their time of origin. These space rocks are leftovers from the early solar system, which is more than 4.6 billion years old. Scientists believe that the study of these asteroids could provide crucial clues to understanding how Earth was formed and where life began. Monitoring NEOs is very important for understanding the risks they pose; after all, past asteroid impacts, such as the one believed to have killed the dinosaurs, remind us of their power.
