On the night of July 31, around 9:15 p.m., the deceased’s elder brother received an urgent call from the suspect, asking him to come home. Upon arrival, he found his brother, Kiranbhai, dead on the bed with a white cloth around his head and injuries to his eyes. The suspect's wife and two nephews were not present at the scene. The elder brother informed the police, who arrived, sent the body for post-mortem, and initiated an investigation.

It also noted that frequent arguments between Kiran and his wife were related to his substance abuse and her refusal to participate in household responsibilities.
