Flooding Disrupts Railway Services in Gujarat Vadodara

In Gujarat’s Vadodara, persistent heavy rains have led to significant flooding of railway tracks, resulting in the cancellation of numerous train services through Central Gujarat. This disruption is expected to last until August 31, affecting both local and long-distance trains.

A total of 19 trains have been completely cancelled, with one train each being short-terminated and short-originated. Additionally, a Rajdhani Express has been diverted due to the flooding.

Among the major train services affected by the disruption, the Western Railway (WR) has announced the cancellation of several key trains, including:

  • Mumbai Central – New Delhi Rajdhani Express
  • Bandra Terminus – Delhi Sarai Rohilla Superfast Express
  • Saurashtra Janta Express
  • New Delhi – Mumbai Central Tejas Rajdhani
  • Puri – Gandhidham Superfast Express

The Delhi Sarai Rohilla – Bandra Terminus Garib Rath will be short-terminated between Godhra and Bandra Terminus, with the return train short-originating from Godhra station instead of Bandra.

Furthermore, the Hazrat Nizamuddin – Thiruvananthapuram Rajdhani Express scheduled for August 28 will operate via an altered route, passing through Nagda, Ujjain, Sant Hirdaram Nagar, Khandwa, Manmad, Igatpuri, Kalyan, and Panvel.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a ‘red alert’ for several districts in Gujarat, indicating intense rainfall expected over the next five days. Residents, particularly in the Saurashtra region, have been advised to avoid waterlogged areas and remain cautious.

In Vadodara, the flooding has also led to power outages in certain parts of the city. The IMD has forecasted thunderstorms and heavy downpours across various districts, underscoring the severity of the current weather conditions.
