RTI Activist Alleges CCB Officials Demanded Bribe and Sexual Favors in Rave Party Raid

In a disturbing complaint filed with the State Human Rights Commission (SHRC), city-based RTI activist Vijay Dennis has accused several officials from the Central Crime Branch (CCB) of demanding bribes and sexual favors from women who were detained during a raid on a rave party in May. The raid, which took place on the outskirts of Bengaluru at G.R. Farmhouse in Hebbagodi near Electronics City, led to the arrest of over 100 individuals, including several Telugu film industry personalities.

The rave party, organized under the banner ‘Vasu’s Birthday: sunset to sunrise victory’ by L. Vasu from Hyderabad, was raided on May 19 by the CCB, which tested attendees for drug use. The officials allegedly collected blood samples from the partygoers, and 85 individuals tested positive for illicit narcotic substances, leading to charges under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

In his complaint, Dennis, who is the founder of the Karnataka RTI Workers Seva Samithi, has accused CCB officials of extorting ₹10 lakh in bribes from the women detained during the raid. He also claimed that the officials forged medical reports to further implicate the women and sought sexual favors in return for their release. These allegations have sparked outrage, leading the SHRC to direct the Bengaluru City Police Commissioner to investigate the matter and submit a report by November 21.

This development has raised serious concerns about police misconduct and the abuse of power within law enforcement, particularly in sensitive cases involving women and vulnerable individuals.
