BJP’s ‘Operation Lotus’ Allegedly Underway in Delhi, Kejriwal Files Complaint with Election Commission

Ahead of the crucial Delhi Assembly elections, the leader of AAP, Arvind Kejriwal, has accused the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party of carrying out "Operation Lotus" to tamper with voter lists. He says BJP is trying to delete valid voters and also try to include fake entries there as well, in some influential constituencies, among others, his New Delhi constituency.
Charge of Electoral Voter List Manipulation
Kejriwal said that in his constituency with a total number of voters of 1,06,000, BJP has filed an application for deletion of 5% of the votes and added 7.5% fake entries. He further said that in just 15 days, nearly 5,000 deletion applications and 7,500 addition requests were made. He questioned the need for elections if such manipulation continues unchecked.
He raised concerns with the Election Commission
Kejriwal expressed his concerns about the unprecedented surge in applications for voters and told the officials to not be pressured. He argued that from a sample verification of 500 electors, 490 were genuine voters who were being targeted for deletion wrongly.
BJP Accused of Electoral Misconduct
Kejriwal, accusing the BJP of trying to win polls dishonestly just like was done in Haryana and Maharashtra, sought the residents of Delhi not to allow such an incident to occur.
