Heavy Rainfall Causes Traffic Jams and Waterlogging in Gurgaon

On Wednesday, an unexpected change in weather brought heavy rainfall and strong winds to the city, leading to traffic jams, especially on the Delhi-Jaipur Highway. The downpour also affected the Manesar region, making the weather pleasant but causing significant disruptions.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted more rain in the region, predicting showers until September 8.
Waterlogging Across Multiple Areas in Gurgaon
Heavy rains resulted in waterlogging in several parts of the city, including Sector 15 Part II, Sushant Lok, IFFCO Chowk, New Colony, Sector 4-7, Basai, Kadipur, Rajendra Park, Laxman Vihar, Khandsa, and Pataudi Road. The service lanes on the Delhi-Jaipur Highway, near Rajiv Chowk parking, Old Delhi Road, and Sector 31, also experienced severe water accumulation, causing traffic disruptions.
Lack of Drain Cleaning Exacerbates Situation
Despite repeated issues, the Municipal Corporation and GMDA (Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority) have not effectively cleaned the drainage systems. This led to waterlogging even after light rainfall, with severe cases reported in Sushant Lok Phases II and III.
The rain has once again highlighted the city's drainage infrastructure challenges, as residents face inconvenience due to blocked roads and traffic jams.
