Tragic Mishap in Gurugram: Three Laborers Suffocate in Underground Water Tank – Safety Concerns Rise!

GURUGRAM, India – A tragic incident in Gurugram claimed the lives of three laborers who suffocated in an underground water tank while attempting to remove shuttering at a construction site. The tank, which had been closed for the past eight months, was filled with stagnant water that had turned toxic, leading to the unfortunate accident.

Incident Details

According to police reports, the laborers were working at a construction site in Hans Enclave when they decided to open the shuttering of the tank due to a lack of other work. Recent rains had filled the tank with water, and the stagnant conditions resulted in the buildup of poisonous gases.

The police arrived at the scene after receiving information about the incident. The bodies of the deceased were retrieved and sent for post-mortem examinations.

Sequence of Events

Police stated that the incident occurred when one laborer entered the tank and did not return for an extended period. Concerned, two other laborers followed him in, only to also become incapacitated. Other workers at the site discovered them unconscious and immediately alerted the authorities.

Emergency services rushed the laborers to a nearby private hospital, where doctors declared them dead on arrival.

Identification of the Deceased

The deceased have been identified as Mohammad Sagir, Rajkumar, and Mohammad Samad, all hailing from Bihar. The police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident and have promised to take necessary actions in light of its severity.

This unfortunate event serves as a stark reminder of the dangers posed by working in hazardous conditions, particularly in poorly maintained areas. Authorities are urging construction sites to adhere to safety protocols to prevent such incidents from occurring in the future.
