Noida Traffic Police to Enforce No-Honking Rule in Silent Zones

Noida Traffic Police is set to implement a strict no-honking rule in silent zones, including hospitals and educational institutions, to curb noise pollution and ensure a peaceful environment for patients and students. The initiative aims to strictly regulate honking, which often causes disturbances in sensitive areas.

Implementation Plan for No-Honking Zones

Identification & Marking: Authorities will identify and clearly mark silent zones across Noida.
Awareness Campaign: Informative banners and posters will be placed at key locations to educate the public.
Strict Monitoring: Traffic police will deploy teams in these zones to enforce the rule.
Fines & Challans: Violators will face penalties under the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988.

Fines for Violating No-Honking Rule
₹1,000 fine for the first offence
₹2,000 fine for repeat offences
Permissible noise levels: 50 decibels (day) and 40 decibels (night)

Why This Rule is Important?

Hospitals Need Silence: Unnecessary honking disturbs patients and can worsen health conditions.
Schools & Colleges: Excessive honking distracts students and affects concentration during exams and studies.

Road Safety Education for School Students

Alongside the no-honking rule, UP Transport Commissioner BN Singh has recommended road safety education for CBSE students from classes 6-12.

CBSE currently teaches traffic rules only up to Class 5.
State Board schools in UP already include road safety from Class 1-12.
Aim: To reduce accidents by creating responsible future drivers.
