Pune Water Tank Tragedy: 3 Labourers Dead, 7 Injured After Tank Collapse in Bhosari

In a tragic incident in Pune’s Pimpri Chinchwad area, three labourers lost their lives, and seven others sustained injuries after a makeshift water tank collapsed on Thursday morning. The incident occurred at a labour camp in the Bhosari industrial area, while some of the workers were bathing under the tank.

According to the Additional Commissioner of Police, Vasant Pardeshi, the accident seems to have been caused by a burst in the tank's wall due to excessive water pressure. The sudden collapse led to the workers being trapped beneath the debris, resulting in immediate fatalities for three of them. "The tank wall likely gave way under water pressure, trapping the labourers beneath," Pardeshi said. "Three were killed instantly, and seven others were injured and rushed to the hospital for treatment."

Emergency responders quickly arrived at the scene to provide assistance and transport the injured to nearby medical facilities. Authorities have launched an investigation into the structural integrity of the water tank and are working to determine whether negligence played a role in the tragic accident.

This incident has once again highlighted the dangers faced by labourers working in precarious conditions, raising concerns about safety protocols in construction sites and temporary settlements across the region.
