Jamtara Bank KYC Update: People Stand Overnight in Frigid Temperature for the Urgent KYC Process

In an extreme show of determination, residents of Jharkhand's Jamtara have been sleeping under extreme cold to get themselves done with their KYC procedure at the State Bank of India branch there. This unusual scene of people standing in line throughout the night has emerged due to the ongoing requirement for KYC updates to ensure smooth transactions related to the Maai Samman Yojana and Abua Awas Yojana, two crucial financial schemes providing benefits to the local population.

The Jamtara SBI branch is receiving a huge number of KYC requests, but the bank can only process about 50 updates a day. This has made many of its residents, women, men, and youth, line up at the bank as early as nightfall to get one of the few slots. The bone-chilling cold has not deterred them from waiting in long queues outside the bank, sleeping there if necessary, to ensure their accounts are updated in time to receive benefits.

In the long queues in the Narayanpur block headquarters of Jamtara, seen on a recent video, the people are fighting the biting cold, huddled up in blankets and each other's arms for warmth. The situation brought to attention challenges rural citizens are facing to complete mandatory tasks like KYC. The bank issued notices advising people not to arrive too early and not to loiter in line at night, but the demand stayed high because the financial aid could only be accessed after its completion.

The local community is concerned about the timely transfer of funds for Maai Samman Yojana and Abua Awas Yojana. These are essential schemes for many below-poverty-line families, helping them meet their living expenditure and housing requirements. With a capacity to update only so many at the SBI branch, the residents of Jamtara are in a mad rush to complete the KYC.
