Noida Police has caught a honey trap gang active in the city. There are two arrestees so far, including one woman; three others remain absconding. The gang used various online platforms to lure in victims, trapping them with compromising situations, and they extorted enormous amounts from them by warning them about public humiliation and legal repercussions.

How It Worked

The gang members identified victims on dating apps like "Real Meet Girl Delhi," from whom they would collect personal details. A victim was lured to an isolated area near Sector 110's Yatharth Hospital where he was approached by two women who threatened to cause a public nuisance unless he paid them. Two male associates arrived during this standoff, extorting ₹2.4 lakh from the victim.

Items Seized

Police have arrested the gang members and recovered ₹70,000 in cash, five mobile phones, and a Creta SUV. The arrested suspects are Lalu Yadav, Ankit Kumar, and two women named Anjali Baisla and Sonia.

Modus Operandi

The gang targeted the victims. They provided friendship for the sum of ₹5,000 to ₹10,000 but threatened with social stigma and police action to fleece much larger amounts. It is reported that the gang has extorted ₹25-₹30 lakh from more than two dozen victims.
