BCCI Family Travel Decision: Players Can Now Bring Families for One Match During Champions Trophy

BCCI Family Travel Decision: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has changed its rules for the Champions Trophy allowing players to bring their families along for the tournament. Initially, players were not permitted to travel with their families on foreign tours, as per a rule introduced after the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia. However, the board has now agreed to allow players to have their families accompany them, but with one condition.
Family Allowed for Only One Match
According to BCCI sources, the new decision means that players can bring their families along, but only for one match during the Champions Trophy. The players must seek permission from the board and inform them in advance if they wish to bring their family members.
Why Did BCCI Change Its Stance?
The change in policy was made after a high-ranking official from BCCI discussed the issue with Secretary Devjeet Saikia. After the conversation, it was agreed that allowing players to have their families with them for one match would not affect the tournament and would offer the players some comfort.
Earlier Restrictions on Family Travel
Previously, as per the rules set after the Australia tour, players were not allowed to bring their families on foreign tours, including the Champions Trophy. However, after this new change, players are now allowed to bring their families but must follow the condition of notifying BCCI in advance and getting permission for the same.
