Delhi EV Policy 2.0: The Delhi Government is gearing up to unveil its ambitious Electric Vehicle Policy 2.0, a roadmap that not only aims to replace fossil-fuel vehicles but also drive mass adoption of EVs, with a target of 95% EV penetration by 2027. The proposed policy, expected to be enforced soon, also aims to generate 20,000 new jobs in the electric mobility sector.

Rs 36,000 Subsidy for Women EV Buyers

In a move to empower women and boost EV usage, the draft version of the policy proposes a ₹36,000 subsidy for the first 10,000 women who buy electric two-wheelers and hold a valid driving license. The initiative underscores the government's commitment to gender inclusion in the green mobility revolution.

EV Subsidies and Incentives: What to Expect

Electric Two-Wheelers

  • Women buyers: ₹36,000 for the first 10,000 eligible women.

  • General buyers: Subsidy of ₹10,000 per kWh, capped at ₹30,000.

  • Scrappage incentive: ₹10,000.

 Electric Three-Wheelers (Auto Rickshaws - L5M Category)

  • Commercial use subsidy: ₹10,000 per kWh (up to ₹45,000).

  • Scrappage incentive: ₹20,000.

  • Old CNG auto replacement (10+ years): ₹1,00,000 incentive per vehicle.

  • Key rule: No new CNG auto registrations allowed after August 15, 2025.

Electric Goods Carriers

  • 3-Wheeler Carriers (L5N): ₹10,000 per kWh (up to ₹45,000).

  • 4-Wheeler Carriers: Subsidy capped at ₹75,000.

  • Fossil-fuel goods carriers (diesel, petrol, CNG): No registration allowed from August 15, 2025.

Additional Provisions & Timelines

  • No renewal of CNG auto permits from August 15, 2025. Permits will be migrated to Auto-E Permits.

  • Mandatory retrofitting of old CNG autos (10+ years) to electric powertrains.

  • Solid waste vehicles (used by municipal bodies) powered by fossil fuels will be phased out.

  • Ban on new petrol, diesel, and CNG two-wheelers from August 15, 2026.

  • Policy validity: Till March 31, 2030.

  • The policy aligns with the PM E-Drive Scheme to accelerate the nationwide EV adoption mission.
