Selfie Turns Deadly: Gurugram Man Drowns in Lake While Taking the Perfect Shot

GURUGRAM, India — A 26-year-old man drowned in Damdama Lake in Sohna, Gurugram, while trying to click a selfie, an incident that has turned tragic and made his family wail. The deceased is Avinash from Abhaypur village, who with his three other friends, Deepak, Rohit, and Manish, had gone to the lake on Diwali.

Some time boating at a particular lake had been decided by the crew. Trying to take a selfie, Avinash fell into the waters as he lost his balance. The youths rushed to save their friend, but strong currents swept him away into deep waters. Young man could not be rescued.

Authorities were notified and Sohna police immediately sent divers to the spot. It took divers three hours to search and finally found Avinash's body. The body was taken to Sohna Civil Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead.

Avinash had apparently been scheduled to marry in a few days, further adding to the grief and shock of his family members. The Sohna police have informed the victim's family and started an investigation in the matter.

According to the initial police investigation, Avinash was trying for a selfie. Police are going ahead with more action after his friends' statements came after the family's complaint.

The heart-wrenching incident has shaken not only Avinash's family but even his friends who are badly hit by the tragedy.
