Dengue Outbreak In Gurgaon: 24 New Cases, 17,000 Homes Served Notices—Take Action Now
GURUGRAM, India — The dengue outbreak in Gurugram is taking an alarming turn with 24 new cases reported within just the last four days. However, as compared to last year, the cases are still less, and the situation hasn't reached its peak yet.
In an interview, a senior health department official reported that special larvae destruction campaigns have been going on right now. The Rapid Response Action Team (RRAT) has inspected more than 2.3 million homes, and found larvae in a number of locations; over 17,000 households were given notices over this.
The Gurugram Municipal Corporation is also in the fray. Every day, all 35 wards are being fumigated, and people are being asked to take precautions around mosquito-breeding sites.
"We advise the public to take all precautionary measures. Do not let water stagnate in your houses, wear full sleeves, and use mosquito nets," the health department said.
The health department and the municipal teams are studying the situation carefully, day and night, in an attempt to control both the outbreak and its spread.
