It was announced that the Uttar Pradesh government led by Yogi Adityanath was gifting a special Diwali to the state's people. The decision was taken to close down all government offices and the state's secondary schools on that day, as ordered in the official order. This declaration is being regarded as an important step for the state's government workers who can now celebrate two days of freedom on October 31 and November 1. A flood of happiness has thus coursed through the state following this move as extended time off will ensure the absence of any disturbance while allowing people to celebrate during those days, with the subsequent Monday being an official day at work.

Earlier, the government had declared October 30 and 31 holidays for Diwali and Govardhan Puja in primary schools, besides other holidays for Naraka Chaturdashi and Bhai Dooj from October 30 to November 3. For secondary schools, there was holiday only on both October 30 and 31, which made students as well as teachers go back to school on November 1, only to be off again on November 2. This arrangement caused some discomfort to parents who could not take their wards out of school for a single day. Besides, the government employees failed to make a durable planning as they did not have a continued break.

This recent declaration went in tandem with the fact that a similar declaration was made recently by the Pushkar Dhami government of the state of Uttarakhand, declaring November 1 as a holiday. Finally, a holiday has come, which will give them a straight four-day diwali break from the day when the week turns to the fourth day: Thursday 31st and goes through the weekend over the subsequent Sunday, three days: November 3 rd. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath explained this move is taken to avoid the hassle of this fractured break and let people enjoy this festive season without problems. The government is going to make Diwali festivities more convenient and enjoyable for all by extending this holiday.
